2009 News Updates

December 3, 2009 - A very sad day for the staff... Advanced Geologic submits their last Earthquake report for the Southern California Region. Chief Geologist Charles Watson has been writing these Earthquake reports for over 16 years! You can see these reports at Seismo-Watch.com. The site will be discontinued as of January, 2010.

October 26, 2009 - Advanced Geologic submits the Final Reclamation Plan for the Blue Lead Mine in Nevada County.

September 19, 2009 - Advanced Geologic submits the Triple Duty Mine and Reclamation Plan Draft to Siskiyou County.

September 8, 2009 - Advanced Geologic submits the Blue Lead Mine and Reclamation Plan Draft to Nevada County.

September 3, 2009 - Advanced Geologic completes a cursory review of the fault hazards and asbestos potential for a 10-acre parcel in western El Dorado County near Pilot Hill. The parcel was located within the Bear Mountain Fault Zone, and more particularly in the vicinity of the Maidu Fault. Asbestos minerals are associated with ultramafic rocks on the east side of the Maidu Fault.

September 1, 2009 - The new 2010 Mineral Year Begins.

August 28, 2009 - The McD's placer mining claim on East Hayfork Creek, Trinity National Forest, received an approval to proceed with a small-scale minerals exploration program from the National Forest Service. Advanced Geologic negotiated terms and conditions through a Notice of Intent document and onsite meetings with the National Forest Service's representatives. The process began in early May but once the documents were filed and revision made, the approval process went by fairly quickly. The plan is to use a small backhoe and portable, self-contained trammel to dig relatively small test holes in predetermined areas. Five areas were approved for up to a few test holes per site. The testing program should take about a year to complete. No bond was required because the disturbance was relatively small and reclamation would be concurrent with testing operations.

August 7 & 13, 2009 - Advanced Geologic received Terms of Approval for the approved Plans of Operations submitted for six placer mining claims in their portfolio. The placer mining claims are: Three Golden Stars #4, Forman's Jackpot #1, Forman's Gold #2, Long Valley Gold #1, Golden Wolf #2 and Golden Wolf #7. These Plans of Operations are transferable, given the new owners provide a small, $2,340 reclamation bond and follow the plan explicitly. For further information on how you can acquire one or more of these permitted claims, feel free to email or call.

July 22, 2009 - Advanced Geologic presented the Lassen National Forest with a Plan Of Operations for a small-scale minerals exploration program on the Humbug placer mining claim near Humbug Valley, Plumas County, California. Advanced Geologic received comments from the National Forest Service on August 12 and is preparing a response.

July 30, 2009 - Advanced Geologic presented the Plumas National Forest with Plan of Operations for a small-scale minerals exploration program on six of their placer mining claims: Three Golden Stars #4, Forman's Jackpot #1, Forman's Gold #2, Long Valley Gold #1, Golden Wolf #2 and Golden Wolf #7. Advanced Geologic negotiated terms and conditions and onsite meetings were conducted with the National Forest Service's representatives. The plan is to use a backhoe to dig test holes in predetermined areas. A portable trommel will process the gravels. Water will be provided by either the creek or a water truck. A dump truck will transport the material to the predetermined processing area. A number of areas were surveyed for testing. The testing program is proposed to take about a year to complete. The plans were pre-approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board.

February 4, 2009 - Chief Geologist Charles Watson dislocates his shoulder while claim staking in Plumas County. He slipped on a patch of ice on a steep slope and went down hard. While painful, no serious damage occurred and should be able to rejoin the field team shortly. Grumbling, he is forced to stay in the office and complete reports. (Staff note: this was probably a good thing..., staying in the office, that is....)

January 23-24, 2009 - Chief Geologist Charles Watson performs a reconnaissance of the Paradise and Magalia area of the Northern Sierra. Heavy rain limited the mission scope.

January 14, 2009 - Advanced Geologic performs environmental clean-up procedures at the restaurant/business complex (formerly the A&W Restaurant) in Chester, CA. Approximately 48 tons of soil contaminated with diesel was excavated and clean fill replaced. The soils was stockpile and later transported to a receiving station where the soil will be processed and cleaned. Weather conditions were ideal and the operation was conducted without any difficulties. A Site Closure Report will be prepared once the laboratory reports no product residue from samples taken from the bottom and sidewalls of the excavation.
