Located on the famous North Fork Feather River, this claim features a large inside bend on the river that has a lot of bedrock showing outside the river with shallow overburden. There is a lot of bedrock in the river also which is ideal for sniping or reclamation dredging or diving with a hookah air system. Plenty of area to metal detect too! This river is known for coarse gold.

This claim has not been worked in the last 25 years except for some rare gold panning and it should hold some nice gold. It should be noted that when panning there, gold should be found in every pan!

This is one of the very few areas on the North Fork Feather River that has bedrock showing and is easily assessible! Most of this river is already claimed or is on private property so this is a very rare opportunity. This claim is one of the easiest access points to the river as most other parts of the river are hard to access.

Access to the claim is directly off Highway 70 behind the Pine Aire cabins. Parking is allowed as long as it does not interfere with the customers in the cabins. The nearest campgrounds are Halstead and Twain. This campgrounds and this claim still have a lot of trees and were spared from the Dixie fire of 2021. Twain has a small store for propane and supplies. The nearest town is Quincy which is 14 miles away.

Larger nuggets are still being found on this river and this claim would be very family friendly with super easy access to the river.

Historically in the Seneca (Butt Valley) Mining District, gold has been produced from rich placer diggings in gravels of both recent and ancient streams. A few small deposits of ancient auriferous gravel have been successfully mined in this district. Deposits of auriferous gravel occur in the recent beds of the North Fork Feather River, the gravel is rich in gold and has been targeted by miners since the Gold Rush. At some locations the gravel has been worked over a number of times and it is still being worked and producing large amounts of gold.

By the disintegration of the auriferous slates of the Cedar and Calaveras formations in the area, free gold is present in the hillsides and has been concentrating in the creeks and the Feather River that drain them.
