Placer Mining Claim For Sale | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Spanish Gold #2 ±80 Acres BLM CAMC #Pending Price: $5,000 This Spanish Creek is legendary in Plumas County for gold. The Tertiary channels piled gravels thick and deep along its valley walls that were amazingly rich. Miners armed with long toms, rockers and hydraulic hoses extensively mined the massive deposits for their fortune. It was a true bonanza. The Spanish Creek headwaters drained granite intrusions that shot gold-rich quartz veins into the surrounding rock, and over the millions of years, eroded and washed down valley only to accumulate in thick, massive deposits. The Spanish Gold #2 placer claim is located about five miles west of Quincy on the Bucks Lake Road at the Snake Lake Road Bridge. It consists the southern half of the SW 1/4 of Section 12. Contained on the claim is roughly 1,400 feet of Spanish Creek, approximately 800 feet at the mouth of Wapaunsie Creek, and three seasonal drainages the come from the bluffs to the north. The bedrock is serpentine of the Feather River ultramafic belt and the Melones fault or the eastern contact with the serpentine splits the claim on a northwest diagonal. The fault is exposed on Bucks Lake Road and buried by Tertiary gravels to the north. The fault is associated with high-grade gold mineralization elsewhere in the northern Sierra and bedrock assays along Bucks Lake Road indicate mineralization also occurs here. The north bluffs drain Tertiary gravels that are rich in gold. The Gopher Hill placer mine, located on the bluffs a mile down stream, was quite rich and was extensively hydraulic mined until 1889, yielding over $21 million. The claim has good 2wd access to the creek’s edge. There are are a number of large gravel bars that are replenished nearly every year. It has ample space for a 5th-wheel and staging area. This is an ideal claim for those who like to prospect in areas not too remote and nearby to amenities, such as good restaurants and accommodations. Quincy has a modest nightlife, a movie theater and a Safeway, as well as a series of motels and B&Bs. The bedrock is highly fractured, which creates excellent traps for the heavy precious metal. Numerous large boulders exist in the active channel, many of which have never been moved. Remnant creek terraces provide excellent high-banking opportunities. The Melones Fault has been the source for HUGE pockets of gold not only here but elsewhere in Sierra Nevada Mountains. Other famous high-grade mines along this fault include the Sixteen-to-One Mine and more. This hot Bucks Lake granitic intrusion remobilized the gold and distributed it throughout the country rock in quartz veins. Hardrock mines are numerous surrounding this intrusion. Just over the ridge to the northwest is the Virgilia Mining District - one of the richest in California. Rich Gulch and Rush Creeks drain that portion of the fault. On the southern reach of the Bucks Lake pluton is the Granite Basin (Boulder Creek, etc.), which are also extremely rich in gold. The gold is bright and plentiful! It is both rounded (Tertiary gravel source) and chunky (nearby bedrock source). The claim attributes are:
