Our Little Grizzly Bar Extension, Grizzly Canyon, Grizzly #1, Grizzly #2, Big Bear Placer, and Little Bear placer mining claims are located in a cross roads of three California gold districts. These are Genesee, Quincy and Spring Garden. This area is home to the gold-belt of east-central Plumas County. Gold was first placer-mined during the gold rush and lode mining began soon after and both continued through the 1900s. Tertiary auriferous gravel was mined by hydraulicking years ago and the area is still intermittently prospected today.

Geology- The country rock is greenstone, slate, mica schist and quartzite that is overlain to the south by andesite. The gold-ore deposits consist of either quartz veins or zones of quartz stringers that contain free gold, limonite and sulfides. A number of high grade pockets have been found. There are also a number of auriferous Tertiary gravel patches.
