| At 8:47 p.m.. Thursday evening, May 23, a moderately strong earthquake occurred about 11 miles northwest of Greenville and 1.5 miles northeast of Canyondam and a mile east of Lake Almanor. The focal depth was about 6.8 miles and the typ of fault movement was strike-slip with a slight oblique component. The orientation of the slip is like to be west-northwest and the directivity is likely up and east from the hypocenter. |
