Mining Claims For Sale

Kilauea
Placer Mining Claim
±40 Acres

Price: $5,500

Our Kilauea placer claim is located in the Meadow Valley gold district. This district is in west-central Plumas County about eight miles west of Quincy. It includes the Edmanton, Buck's Lake, Spanish Peak and Spanish Ranch areas. The Quincy district lies just to the east and the Granite Basin district to the southwest. The district was mined from the gold rush days through the early 1900s and has been prospected since.

Geology: The east portion of the district is underlain by quartzite, slate, schist, limestone, amphibolite, and serpentine. Meadow Valley is covered by Pleistocene lake beds. Granite lies to the west. There are a number of scattered patches of auriferous Tertiary gravel, in the vicinity of and northwest of Spanish Ranch, which were mined by hydraulicking and drifting. The Pleistocene lake gravels also yielded some gold. The only source of lode gold was the Daidem mine.

Our 40-acre placer mining claim is located a few miles northwest of Quincy on Big Creek. This drainage has had abundant placer mining history from both bedrock and older Tertiary gravel deposits from the proto-Feather River. Tailing piles and small digs dot the claim, giving rise to the richness of the remnant gravels.

Some of the amenities are:

  • 2wd year-round access on Big Creek road
  • Campsite on claim.
  • Local gravels on bedrock.
  • Abundant, thick older gravel deposits.
  • Shallow slow current on Big Creek/very little water on Deadwood Creek.
  • Nice pools on Big Creek.
  • Mining level: Recreational to intermediate.
  • Quiet and safe area; very beautiful.
  • Children and senior friendly - fun for all!
  • Nearest town is Meadow Valley but no amenities.
  • Quincy is 9 miles away with lodging, restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, and gasoline facilities available!
  • Bucks Lake is 9 miles away with cabins, RV/Trailer/Tent camping, boating, fishing, and restaurants.
